A 12-year-old girl has died after she was struck by a sport utility vehicle as she walked her bicycle across a highway.
Carver County sheriff’s officials say Amy Marie Trudeau was walking her bike east across the intersection of Minnesota Highway 101 and Sandy Hook Road when she was struck by a southbound SUV around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The girl was wearing a bicycle helmet. The sheriff’s office says she was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition and was pronounced dead around 10:30 p.m.
The accident remains under investigation.
